An old friend of mine used to love a line he remembered from one of the old Japanese monster films. I've never seen a film with this line myself, but the line he loved was:
"Oh no! Half of Fujitsu is destroyed! Now we will have to order parts from America!"
Whether he made that up or that really was something he heard in a movie is debatable.
I think the guys that translated these for English dubbing had their little fun.
Indeed. I wonder if they were actually translated, or merely re-written based on a vague synopsis, like the Japanese animated series Jungle Taitei in the '60s (known as "Kimba the White Lion" in the U.S., which apparently was full of conflicting plot points as a result).
One would have to listen to the original Japanese for a few scenes to compare to the English dubs.
