Just so you know, that pause in Gappa is not there just to emphasize how awesome Gappa is. In Japanese nearly every consonant would be followed by a sylable. When you see two together there's a pause there [or you elongate the vowel right before the double consonants]. Now you know.
And knowing is half the battle.
