Conquer Catalina Island Virtual Challenge

Conquer Catalina Island Virtual Challenge: The Conquer Catalina Island Virtual Challenge is on Thursday October 1, 2020 to Thursday December 31, 2020.

I sneered at such activities as a virtual challenge. But in the absence of true road races, my wife, Joy, and I are onboard for a hundred miles. In return for our efforts, we receive durable electronic trophies plus a tee-shirt.

What's amazing is that even a fey virtual challenge goads my big ass out of the chair and onto the road. I'm running a bit more per week, gradually increasing speed.

So on we go. I'm over 30 miles, a quarter finished. Updates here on this fine blog.

Can't blame you for sneering at a virtual 'run'. Best cast scenario, a tread mill and Virtual Reality glasses, I'd be able to walk a mile and a half.

Surely, there's a happy medium where you and your wife can set up a running routine that keeps you a safe distance from others but also gets you out of the house, taking in some much needed fresh air as you get some exercise on your own terms.

I'm less afraid of the Chinese virus than I am of cardio exercise with a mask on.

Nonetheless, we're staying busy.

Glad to hear you're keeping your mind and body busy. In this current environment, Stress is the killer of body and soul. Kick up old hobbies or jump start a new one or both. Don't dwell on negative junk. Learn what you have to find out and then push away from it. I work with people who were covid crazy when this got started. That's all I heard. And now it's into the second wave of fear and I'm self -isolating from it and focusing on what NEEDS to get done.

As far as the mask.... OFF outside. I've been trying to tell people about this, but FEAR reigns..

When you're outside, take full advantage of the FRESH air ~ MASK OFF!!! The sky is the highest ceiling anywhere! Fresh air is free and as long as you're a safe distance from others, steal all the free air you can wrap your lungs around!

It's SAD how fearful people are! I see so many with masks on OUTSIDE. I'm hardly a cardiologist a lung specialist, but (pardon the language) COMMON SENSE dictates that you don't want to be breathing recycled air all day. I'm all for recycling but there's a limit! I asked my doctor about it, and he said, when he takes his daily walk, as long as he's a safe distance away from others, the mask is OFF. Your brain needs it.

Stay safe and healthy.

Now to the major editing that's got to be done. My Fuel? coffee and chocolate cake. 📒✒️☕️ 🍰
