E.T. Would have been more interesting with this ending. Yeah, and the Amblin logo would have a completely different meaning to me.
And for me, as well.
This movie freaked me out as a kid. Not sure why, but E.T. scared the poopy out of me.
I was never convinced of his innocence.
Especially after the scene where he's discovered putting barbecue sauce on Elliot's little sister.

This ending would have been much more satisfying for me. Thanks for sharing, John. I laughed for 2 whole minutes.
