If only everyone could be pleased. And poor MGM, I hope they get out of that debt. Just think, seventy years ago, they were home to the King and queens of Hollywood.
I always wondered why 'The Hobbit' was slated for the last can, amateur movie consumer that I am.
I know there is some cost effective -or artistic - reason that everybody knows about but me. If you are aware of these reasons, I 'd love to hear it. ;D

Big fight with the Tolkein heirs over the rights. Matters weren't helped when New Line Cinema was caught withholding their royalties on LOR.
Thus, in the end, it comes down to money.
Yup, just like almost everything else, the all mighty dollar makes the decision
