you chose a perfect scene -- great tribute. That scene has always freaked me out. I figured that if I ever got stoned enough to understand what Dennis Hopper was talking about, I was too stoned. Fortunately, I never got there.
I saw an old western from the late 50s with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas. Hooper was the punk kid they tried to talk out of gunfighting, but then ended up killing when he drew on them.
Oddly enough, as Hooper expired on the floor of a saloon, he gave the exact same speech from Apocalypse Now.
