Wonderful! I'd only managed to see a few of those back in the day.
What stuck in my head most was a scene in a costume shop, looking at masks all in row.
"We've got President Lincoln, President Reagan, President Ford..."
"...and President Andrew Lloyd Weber!"
Now then, I understand that Manny is a rather old character of Paul's...? One wonders if there are any recordings or footage of true classic Manny...
Paul mostly did Manny onstage in improv shows.
There weren't many recordings.
But still the same Manny.
Paul Rugg, improving on stage.. man I wish I could see it..
There were some old VHS tapes shot, but I'm not sure who ended up with them.
Aw man! That's unfortunate. So I take it he was in stand up before?
Not really, but his Manny act was solo. He'd draw people up from the audience and work them into the bit.
He liked working without a net.
He does strike me as a guy who works without strings. Just kind of having fun with different ideas on a whim.
