Oh my goodness! What a thrill.
I've been doing the same thing with our old business debt, which included personal credit cards we used to finance operations, hoping the sale of the business would come through. One active account still lingers. The rest are either paid off or gave up on us.
Just a few days ago I got a letter from HFC. They are particularly predatory lenders and nasty collectors to boot.
We got them to settle for around $.30 on the dollar, due to yours truly being conversant with certain illegal activities they perpetrated on Walter just after they'd lost a huge lawsuit for pulling the exact same stunt.
heh!
That was a particularly satisfying one.
I opened the letter and saved it for Walter when he got home. We lay in bed for a long time admiring it. Then I got a little water on the corner of it, as it sat in my home office by my Sprite Zero.
Oh noes! No longer suitable for framing!
Just in case it wasn't clear, the recent letter from HFC said, *Your debt is paid in full...*
