Finally
Jumbo short story went out today, just shy of 15k words. The story put me in mind of a large, overweight child that wouldn't leave home. Then one day, boom, he's gone.
What about the other pieces of copy who just won't leave home...commentaries who lie around all day, watching game shows, half finished scripts that sneak in the kitchen late at night and eat the rest of the potato salad...and that worst of all truants- short stories in need of a re-write. These often end up in front of a merciless editor, sentenced to merge with some hackneyed formula and become the plot of a new Harlequin Romance. Possessing literary offspring is a troubling, thankless business, alright.

Possessing literary offspring is a troubling, thankless business, alright.
In the end, however, cheaper than the real thing.
I hope your large offspring writes back if he finds work.

Thank you.
I'm believing, in his own oafish fashion, he will.
