Anubis Markets

Thanks to khalptah for putting this together. The morning of the "Mission: Freakazoid!" recording we got a rare call from the studio saying the original name for the supermarket chain was taken and we needed a new one. I suggested Anubis because I figured even the Egyptians wouldn't name a supermarket after the god of mummification and the afterlife. So far, that theory stands.

Still gets a smile out of me, food so good, I can eat it?? WOW!

What was it originally called?

It was something odd like Hobinfrieder and it turned out there was a chain in the midwest with the same name.

It was also the last time on Freakazoid we responded to anything the lot said.

Which may be why we never saw season 3.

I just thought that it would have also been funny if the whenever they were about to say "Anubis Market" the scene was interrupted by a big jackal head with glowing red eyes and a deep evil voice saying it instead, as if it was trying to create some evil hypnotic effect. I don't know why the idea popped up in my mind, I know I've seen something similar in some comedy, maybe SNL.

Perhaps some day, someone will use that idea in a YouTube tribute to Anubis Markets.

hahaha. It does sound like something you'd find in youtube!
